Proud of our Produce

We are very proud of the fact that much of the produce served in Levens Kitchen is bought from local suppliers or sourced from Levens Hall Estate and the gardens themselves. 

Although Levens Kitchen is a very new addition to Levens Hall Estate, having opened in March 2019, it still has strong links with history.   Levens Kitchen's lamb is supplied by Forest Hall Farm, one of Levens Hall Estate's in-hand farms.  Before the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538, Byland Abbey, near Ampleforth in North Yorkshire, owned this 4800-acre farm.  Following the Dissolution, Forest Hall Farm was granted to Sir Alan Bellingham of Levens Hall by King Henry VIII, and it has been in the family ever since. 

The menu changes on a regular basis to reflect the produce available depending on the season, and you'll see a list of items "From Levens Estate today" at the top of each day's menu.  You can't get fresher than that. 


Current Service

At the moment, we are only able to operate a takeaway service, but at least you can still enjoy our delicious coffees, cakes, brunches and lunches as well as freshly baked bread and hand raised pies.
