Levens Kitchen will open in March 2019 and will serve bistro/high-end café food to our customers. The restaurant has 64 covers, with a further 20 covers in the open-air courtyard and 40 in the Howard Room, predominantly used by groups visiting Levens Hall during the summer months.   Although the House and Gardens will continue to be open to the public between April and October, Levens Kitchen will be open from March until mid-December in 2019, and from mid-January to mid-December in subsequent years. The business will initially offer lunch service but it is our intention to host evening events once the restaurant is established.

Levens Hall is an Elizabethan country house, located five miles south of Kendal and six miles from J36 of the M6 at the gateway to the Lake District National Park.  The garden contains the oldest examples of topiary in the world and is regularly voted one of the best gardens in the UK. The Bagot family welcomes over 35,000 visitors each year from all over the world, so is already a well-established business, having first opened its doors to the public more than 60 years ago.

Levens Estate consists 9,500 acres of Cumbrian farmland.  Our farms produce their own lamb, beef and venison and the selected candidate will work closely with Estate staff to make best use of these resources throughout the menu.  Levens Hall also has an undeveloped three-acre kitchen garden near the restaurant and the candidate will help direct future investment in order to transform this area.
