Following on from its recent success in being awarded a Visit England Award for Quality Food and Drink, Levens Kitchen, the café-restaurant located at Levens Hall and Gardens, has begun to attract a virtual food-lover following amongst worldwide podcast listeners.
Executive chef, Robert Stacey, features in a new podcast episode on the Poodling Around channel, in which host, Jane Hunt, talks to him about Levens Kitchen and its ethos, the arrival of Levens Bakery and the benefits that this new facility has delivered, and future plans for the entire food operation at the award-winning visitor attraction. This was itself awarded the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year accolade in the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2024.
Rob explains about his prestigious career and experience earned in various top London eateries and what inspired him to head to the Lake District originally. He offers insight into what then attracted him to the role at Levens Kitchen and the menu favourites that have gained huge popularity over the past five years.
Jane and Rob discuss the benefits of the eatery and bakery’s location, the offering for coach parties and group travellers and the wonderful twists on the menu that really should be bottled up and sold.
They also focus on the growth of the venue and team, the achievements of individuals within the team and the success that all have, together, enjoyed.
The podcast is a good listen for those who have contemplated visiting Levens Kitchen, but never taken the plunge, and also anyone who wants quality takeaway options, be that an excellent cup of coffee, delicious loaf of bread or sausage roll, or a scrumptious cake. That could be a local resident in the South Lakes, someone travelling between Barrow and Kendal, or someone on holiday in the area or using the M6 to get to another destination. With the venues being just a short drive from junction 36 of the M6, they make for a brilliant pitstop.
There is also an exploration of the ‘secret’ menu of Levens Kitchen which, together with the takeaway options can make for a perfect picnic in the idyllic Levens Park, just across the road from Levens Hall and Gardens.
And did you know that there is also a doggy menu available? If not, perhaps it’s time to have a listen - https://bit.ly/4fPBMmm
