During 2006, you are invited to

"join the gardener" on a series of

walks and talks in the gardens

at Levens Hall

You are invited to join

Chris Crowder on a walk

which will consider Beaumont's

design for the parterre, and modern care of the topiary and hedges.

The topiary at Levens is unique

in its survival and evolution

over the centuries.

The walk will begin at 2pm.

The meeting point is the front lawn.

Admission to the Gardens costs £6.

There is no extra charge for

joining in the walk.

There are two more walks

planned for this season:

Wednesday 20 September at 2pm

Wednesday 11 October at 2pm.

MODERN APPRENTICESHIP

IN

 HORTICULTURE

 

Are you 16-18 years of age and

keen to get started on a career in Horticulture?

We can offer you a 2-year apprenticeship in

all aspects of Horticulture – propagation, planting,

garden maintenance, lawn care,

use of horticultural machinery

and vehicles etc. 

This largely practical course has academic supervision provided by Myerscough College, leading to NVQ level 2/3 qualifications.

A modest training allowance

is offered.  

  

Applicants should have an

enthusiasm for plants

and gardening, and should be able

to undertake the physical challenges

of the job.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

 

Are you already working in the Horticultural environment but

would like to move into high

quality "Heritage” gardening?

Perhaps you are a Horticultural graduate looking for working experience in one of the

country's finest gardens?

We can offer a one-year contract

part-funded through the

Historic and Botanic Garden

Bursary Scheme.

A modest training allowance

is offered.

Previous trainee gardeners at Levens have gone on to successful careers in private and public Heritage gardens, the National Trust, or have furthered their training at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, or have become lecturers at Horticultural Colleges.
